2019

Tec Vanlife didn’t start with a business plan.

It started with a camping trip to the Grand Canyon.

Vanlife Started

Before Tec Vanlife, we owned a Class C RV — heavy, inefficient, and difficult to enjoy. It consumed nearly 36 L/100 km (6 MPG), was uncomfortable to drive, and felt disconnected from the kind of travel experience we wanted. We knew there had to be a better way — something more efficient, more enjoyable, and more environmentally responsible.

The Sink

So in 2019, we decided to build our own van.

As soon as we started, the problems appeared — not big ones, but real ones that every builder eventually runs into. The first was surprisingly simple: the sink. There was nothing on the market that worked for us. The sinks that were deep enough took up too much valuable countertop space, and the faucet and mounting hardware only made it worse. In a small van, every inch matters. So we designed a solution: a sink with an integrated internal platform that houses the faucet inside the sink itself — freeing up the entire countertop.

We shared the idea online.

It went viral.

What started as a personal solution quickly turned into something bigger. People reached out asking where they could buy it. So we made sinks — properly engineered, thoughtfully designed, and built for real van-life use.

From 2020 to 2022

L-tracks and more

We then ran into the next problem.

We wanted L Tracks for our own van. There was no reliable supply of L-track available to van builders unless you sourced it from aviation suppliers. Lead times were long, options were limited, and pricing made no sense for small builders and DIYers. So we started manufacturing our own L-track — designed specifically for camper vans, with consistent quality and availability.

Then We needed Roof Rack, Cabinets...

And then another problem came up.
Then another.
And another.

2023 — Advancing the Industry with Carbon Fiber

In 2023, Tec Vanlife became one of the first companies in the van-life industry to introduce carbon fiber technology into functional, real-world van components.

We launched a hybrid carbon fiber–aluminum storage box, engineered to deliver exceptional strength while dramatically reducing weight. By combining advanced composites with structural aluminum, we created a solution that improves vehicle safety, enhances handling, and reduces unnecessary load — without compromising durability.

This marked a turning point not only for Tec Vanlife, but for the broader van-life and RV market. Our goal was never novelty — it was to raise the standard of what van components could be.

2024 — Industry-First Glass–Acrylic Window

In 2024, Tec Vanlife introduced the industry’s first glass–acrylic hybrid window system for the van-life and RV market.

By combining the clarity and scratch resistance of glass with the lightweight, impact-resistant properties of acrylic, we engineered a window that delivers improved insulation, reduced weight, and enhanced durability — without compromising visibility or structural integrity.

This innovation addressed long-standing challenges in traditional van windows, improving thermal performance, safety, and overall vehicle efficiency. Once again, our goal was not to follow existing solutions, but to rethink them and move the industry forward.

Each product Tec Vanlife makes today exists because we needed it first.

Over time, what began as one van build turned into a full product line — storage systems, exterior components, electrical solutions, windows and structural parts — all designed with the same philosophy: practical engineering, clean integration, and respect for space, weight, and real-world use.

We didn’t grow by chasing trends.
We grew by solving problems — one at a time.

Today, Tec Vanlife designs and manufactures premium camper van components in-house, working directly with trusted long-term factory partners. We support professional builders, serious DIYers, and OEM partners across North America — but we’ve never lost sight of where we started.

We’re still builders.
Still testing ideas in real vans.
Still sharing the journey.

Tec Vanlife is the result of curiosity, frustration, and the belief that van-life products should be designed by people who actually live it.

2025 Expanding Beyond Vans — The Birth of RoamLabX

As Tec Vanlife matured, so did our vision.

By late 2025, after years of hands-on product development, manufacturing, and real-world testing, we recognized an opportunity to apply our engineering expertise beyond camper vans — into the broader overland and expedition market. The lessons we learned from van-life builds, space efficiency, weight reduction, material selection, and system integration were directly transferable to a much larger world of exploration-focused vehicles.

That vision led to the creation of a new division: RoamLabX.

This evolution does not mean we are slowing down — quite the opposite.

We will continue to introduce new products, but all future developments will be engineered under RoamLabX. With significantly expanded engineering resources, advanced manufacturing capabilities, and a dedicated focus on innovation, RoamLabX enables us to build better, smarter, and more capable products than ever before.

The mission remains the same — only the tools, scale, and possibilities have grown.

Stepping into 2026

Stepping into 2026, RoamLabX has released two new carbon-fiber composite rooftop tents — engineered with advanced materials to deliver exceptional strength, reduced weight, and improved performance for serious overland and expedition travel.

With significantly expanded engineering resources, advanced manufacturing capabilities, and a dedicated focus on innovation, we’re just getting started.

Stay tuned for products that are better than ever — built with the latest technologies to go further with you, explore more, create lasting memories, and take on adventures that were never possible before.
