What’s New in the Latest Version
This latest version of the Tec Vanlife Expandable Elevator Bed has been updated with weight savings and long-term reliability in mind.
To reduce overall system weight and simplify the mechanism, the expandable sleep platform now features a manual retractable section secured with heavy-duty locking latches. This change eliminates unnecessary components while maintaining the same full-length sleeping surface, strength, and stability.
The result is a lighter, simpler, and more durable bed system—engineered for real-world van builds and long-term use.
TEC Features
Expandable Sleep Platform
Retracted size is 63” x 55”, perfect for daytime space-saving. Expands to a full 77” x 55” sleeping surface in seconds—plenty of room for two adults to sleep comfortably, even in smaller vans.
Ultra-Low Profile Design
With a total thickness of just 80mm (without slats and mattress), the frame preserves critical headroom and maintains an open feel in your van, whether stowed or deployed.
Electric Lift & Slide System
A proven, reliable motor raises and lowers the bed effortlessly. Manual backup gradual release included for total peace of mind, even in the event of a power failure.
North-South Sleeping in Compact Vans
Specifically engineered to fit Sprinter, Transit, Promaster, especially short-wheelbase vans—no side flares needed. Sleep front-to-back with a full-length bed.
No More Daily Bed-Making
Your bedding stays in place—just lift the bed during the day and lower it at night. No need to pack up your sheets and pillows every morning.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Does the bed package include guide rails?
Yes. The Tec Vanlife Expandable Elevator Bed package includes guide rails.
Are the guide rails required for installation?
No. Installation is flexible and depends on your van layout and build preference.
How do most customers install the guide rails?
Many customers choose to install the guide rails directly onto cabinet side walls or other structural interior panels. This provides controlled vertical movement and proper alignment.
Can the bed be installed without using the guide rails?
Yes. Many customers choose not to install the guide rails. In these setups, the bed is commonly installed by:
-
Resting directly on top of fixed cabinets
-
Using custom support brackets or ledges
-
Integrating the bed into a full custom cabinetry system
Which installation method should I choose?
Both methods are widely used. Guide rails provide guided alignment and vertical control, while cabinet- or bracket-supported installations prioritize simplicity and layout flexibility. The best option depends on your interior design.
Is additional support required if guide rails are not used?
Yes. If guide rails are not installed, the bed must be properly supported by cabinets or brackets capable of handling the system’s load rating.
