To bolt the roof rack and roof brackets to the roof of a Ford Transit van, M8 bolts that are generally 25mm to 35mm long are commonly used for this purpose. Butyl tape and silicone are recommended to seal around the mounting points.

Ignoring the following warnings may result in the rack detaching from the vehicle, leading to serious injury or death. Do not exceed a load of 40 lbs on each tower, and do not extend any component more than 4 inches beyond the front or rear most towers. Ensure you do not surpass the maximum load limit specified by the vehicle manufacturer and use all available attachment points on the van roof. Do not install a rooftop deck or climb on the rack. Inspect and tighten all hardware after the first 100 miles and every 500 miles thereafter. Check the overall integrity of the rack every 500 miles or monthly, whichever comes first. If unsure, submit rack plans or photos for evaluation before final installation or use. The van owner and/or installer assumes all risks associated with rooftop-mounted items and/or components.
